In a move that’s a win/win/win, the Seattle Kraken have assigned defenseman Ryker Evans to the Coachella Valley Firebirds.
Since the Kraken do not play again until February 10th, there’s no reason to keep Ryker Evans on the NHL roster when assigning him to the AHL has three benefits:
Benefit #1! Instead of sitting at home, he gets playing time with games against the Calgary Wranglers (February 1) and the Tuscon Roadrunners (February 3) before the AHL all-star game.
Benefit #2! This lets Ryker Evans play in that all-star game on February 5th.
This move is all upside. Nothing prevents them from calling Evans back up when the Kraken resume play, and in fact that is exactly what I expect will happen.
