Trade Deadline’s over. Everybody go home.
My general thoughts are as this: They made a commitment to a player who’s still very good and made a strong decision to move on from Wennberg for futures. This team is still building, and as such they will have to look at much of this roster as just the 1.0 version of the contender they want to be in the future. Maybe Ebs will be part of it as the old man the young kids cart around, maybe not. The point is, getting involved in the arms race right now is probably not the best call for a team who’s principal problems can’t be solved this deadline or would require some crippling moves to their organizational depth.
Meanwhile the Jets joined the arms race for the western conference so uh…those who remain in Deep Blue better be ready to go; this one’s going to be tough.
LET’S GO KRAKEN, LET’S GO SQUIDS
