AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

But first, the Highlights!

Game Notes

  • Your TOI Leader was Adam Larsson with 28:50 logged!
  • This was a much improved game by several players who badly needed to start proving they belonged. Passing was better, they were shooting a hell of a lot more (and Detroit did not come out swinging through the 2nd period, which helped), and when the chips were down, they managed to pull out an absolutely incredible overtime winner together.
  • The above is hilarious because that third period was primarily the entire Penalty Kill falling apart all at once, allowing Detroit to claw their way directly back into the game after a series of both unfortunately warranted calls and a couple of ticky-tack calls. This game could’ve gone a whole different way and very easily changed this recap’s tone had they blown it.
  • I’m not gonna hold much of the .852 SV% Joey Daccord to him. Given how almost all the goals he gave up were from the rough penalty kill’s inability to get the puck away from the Wings, I’m more than willing to give him a pass.
  • That 3-for-6 that Detroit got needs to be a one night only thing; they managed to get a game-tying goal to salvage this, but the Red Wings were essentially gifted some great chances to score, and that can’t happen again.
  • The Overtime strategy gives me gas. It takes something I don’t care for on the power play (the inability to get a clean entry) and something I like (having the puck forever), and creates one extremely difficult to watch experience. Gonna need that to change up a bit.
  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-
  • The Kraken do not play normal games.

Let’s Give A Hand To…

  • Jared McCann!!! Canner had the game-tying tally and the primary assist on Eberle’s game winner. The guy’s clutch, I got nothing else.
  • Jaden Schwartz!!! TWO GOAL JADEN! Mr. Schwartz is making himself known as a major scoring threat for the Kraken and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
  • Matty Beniers!!! EXACTLY the kind of game Matty needed. Two assists and they were huge. He was also a major force at even-strength for the Kraken, which if he’s not gonna score, he needs to be that at bare minimum.
  • Jordan freaking Eberle!!! Got an assist, and then finished everything out with a game winner to remember.

Let’s Take a Look at the game through the Charts of NaturalStatTrick.com!

Whupped ’em at evens after the first period. That’s what I wanna see.

The Kraken are still on the road, making their way to Raleigh to face the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday. That game drops the puck at 4pm PT!

Getting above .500 ain’t easy, but with this kind of effort? There’s no reason the Kraken can’t do it. They just gotta do more of this. Minus the reason we got to OT.

Either way, thank you for reading, and always remember

Keep Calm, and Post Zoidberg When We Win
