Kraken vs. Habs RECAP: Eight in a Row. 5-1 Loss.

This team’s offense is under deep and dangerous influences.

These are called Highlights because someone had to make them:

Game Notes:

  • Do you even want to know who led this boondoggle in TOI? It was Brian Dumoulin, but do you need to know more than that? Dumoulin hasn’t been on top of the TOI chart pretty much at all this season. That’s where we’re at.
  • This game was ended by a catastrophic, apocalyptic, apoplectically bad first period. Just a truly abominable first period where nobody seemed to know their assignment, any old shot made it past Philipp Grubauer, and there was no hope of the offense trying to build anything of a comeback to possibly overcome it.
  • This team’s ability to generate things with the puck has completely collapsed in on itself, dropping down to about 1.4 (if you round up and are being generous) over this disastrous stretch. It doesn’t seem like there’s anything but hope for the future incoming if this continues on. They blended the lines a bit, but at some point there has to be a come-to-jesus moment where we acknowledge this roster as it’s constructed needs shooters and desperately needs scoring talent. If it’s Firkus, Wright, and Goyette in the next couple of years? Cool. Cole Eisermann? Even better. But outside of maybe Shane and Ryan Winterton jumping in and being lights out (which I sincerely doubt) for the rest of the season? It’s not here among this group unless they can start shooting the lights out again.
  • If you’re wondering how Hak’s responding to this whole thing; he seemed just about ready to rip the locker room apart with a hatchet; saying that they disrespected their own jerseys by playing like they have. Can’t say I disagree.
  • Hey, at least the PK didn’t surrender a goal tonight on the 2 penalties they were assessed. Power Play went 0-for-4, which sucked. Frankly it’s a little nuts how McCann got cross-checked multiple times and the stripes just didn’t uh…call it.
  • Half of Montreal’s penalties were drawn against Tye Kartye. Did he say something in French that got their goat or something?
  • Joey Daccord had to come in after some truly gruesome work by Philipp Grubauer. Daccord finished the night with a .909 SV%. What a heartbreaker.
  • 8 in an actual row. Good god.

So did anything GOOD happen in this game?

Eberle got a goal. Borgen’s feed on it was pretty solid.

Oh, and they inch closer and closer towards a better draft pick.

✨✨✨Positives.✨✨✨

Man I hope you tolerate the Anaheim Ducks, because the Kraken have a lot of Anaheim to get through.

The Kraken will get their 2nd crack at Anaheim this season on Tuesday; that game drops the puck at 7pm PT.

We’ll see you there.

Keep Calm, and Post Zoidberg When We Win.

…whenever the hell that is.
