Stats
This is the first meeting between the Capitals and Kraken this season. Seattle, as you probably know, is coming in hot with a 7-game winning streak, brick-wall goaltending, and a recent Winter Classic shutout. The Capitals are coming off an upset victory over the Kings, but have won only 4 of their last ten games.
Goaltending is the big story in Seattle, largely because of the success of Joey Daccord. John Forslund says he could run for mayor tomorrow and win in a landslide and I don’t disagree.
Of course, we also have to address the monster offense, lead by Ovechkin who’s currently chasing Wayne Gretzky’s all-time goal record.
Finally, because it’s fun to know this stuff, here’s who’s been naughty:
Injuries
For the Capitals…
- Alex Ovechkin and Tom Wilson are listed as day-by-day.
- Mount Vernon native T.J. Oshie was on IR but could return to play against the Kraken.
For the Kraken, there aren’t recent updates but Pierre-Édouard Bellemare and Philipp Grubauer continue to be on IR.
