The Highlights

Game Notes

  • Your time-on-ice leader is Vince Dunn at 22:13, although Adam Larsson was a mere second behind at 22:12.
  • Seattle wins their franchise record-tying eighth game in a row. They extend their point streak to twelve games and are currently 8th in point percentage in the Western Conference. 8th you say? That sounds like playoff talk to me!
  • During those eight wins, Seattle has not given up more than two goals in any of them, outscoring their opponents 25-9 during that span.
  • This was a low-event affair, with only 49 combined shots. To start out the season, Seattle had a rock-bottom shooting percentage. Nice to see that come up some and normalize.
  • Seattle scored 4 goals on 23 shots for an opposing goalie percentage of .826. That is not very good.
  • Washington scored 1 goal on 26 shots, for a Joey Daccord save percentage of .961. That is very good.
  • The last two games the Kraken have 9 goals by 8 different scorers. The depth identity is back.
  • The officials were not busy tonight. Only two penalties were called all game, the first coming with just a little over 13 minutes remaining in the game. Each team went 0/1 on the power play.

Lets Give A Hand To…

  • The Tanev/Wennberg/Schwartz line! This line dominated whenever they were on the ice with a 74.2% expected goal share and a beauty of a goal by Wennberg.
  • Joey Daccord! The Mayor just keeps rolling, making acrobatic saves, cosplaying as a brick wall, and he shows up on this list seemingly every recap. Joey stops pucks, Joey gets accolades. The system works!
  • Dave Hakstol! Give some extra love for Hak right now. He’s been unfairly criticized, people have called for his head countless times, but he always seems to find a way to fix problems that happen in the season. He’s a smart, even-keeled coach and you can tell the players love playing for him and they play hard.

The Three Stars of the Game:

The three stars of the game are selected by home team media.

⭐⭐⭐ Max Pacioretty: Though he plays for Washington, this was really wonderful to see, scoring his first goal of the season after coming off not one, but two Achilles tears. He’s 34! He’s been through so much and it’s good to see him back on the ice being awesome at hockey, because he’s been an awesome hockey player for a long time.

⭐⭐ Adam Larsson: For a gorgeous goal and also had an assist. I assume the Washington media isn’t giving him props for the shirt that turned the season around, but we’re certainly going to credit him for it.

Joey Daccord: The brick wall in net just doing his thing.
