How to watch the NHL Winter Classic

The Seattle Kraken will play against the Vegas Golden Knights in the NHL’s signature event, the outdoor Winter Classic.

In the United States, the game will be carried exclusively on TNT. If you’re in Seattle or the greater Seattle area, the DirecTV channel for TNT is 245. The Xfinity channel is 662 based on the labyrinthian process it took to find this information on the Xfinity (Comcast rebranded) website.

If you’re more of a “use technology invented this century” kind of person, you can stream any streaming service that carries TNT. According to cordcutting.com, Hulu, DirecTV, Fubo, and Sling stream TNT. DirecTV, Fubo, and Sling have free trials. (Although I could not find the Sling free trial on their site when I tried to verify this.)

You can also stream it on MAX (formerly known as HBO because any time you have a brand that’s synonymous with TV excellence, you gotta change it to something nondescript and unmemorable, that’s just good business sense). If you’re interested in a free trial in MAX, it appears that you can do so through Amazon.

For our Canadian friends, the game is available on Sportsnet and also Sling TV, according to The Sporting News.

Pregame starts at 11:00am Pacific with the game starting at noon. Well, probably not exactly noon. There will be fanfare. Oh, so much fanfare. But let’s say noonish.
