The Kraken are finally back in King County after a southeastern road trip that didn’t exactly leave anybody inspired, but now they face a fairly formidable foe in Winnipeg.
Winnipeg won their last meeting with the Kraken in overtime, but since then have largely controlled a strong ten-game stretch (with admittedly some fairly embarrassing losses) where they either blow their opponent out or match them blow for blow in scoring. The big issue they do face on the other hand is that for all their scoring talent, they still have tremendous issues in backchecking. Hellebuyck once again being a Vezina candidate night in, night out definitely makes this harder than it usually would be, but the Kraken can absolutely exploit their total lack of commitment to defense if they play them hard enough. Given the month they’ve been having so far, I think it would behoove them to do so.
Will the Kraken fall prey to the soaring Jets? Or will Winnipeg get swatted out of the sky? We’ll find out at 5!
