What’s going on with the Flames?

Personnel change is the big story in Calgary. The Flames are clearly thinking ahead to next season and yeeting salary off the books. So far, they traded Chris Tanev, Brandon’s brother, to Dallas. Earlier in the season, they traded Nikita Zadorov and Elias Lindholm to the Canucks.

As the March 8 trade deadline looming large, rumors are flying about possible trades of defenseman Noah Hanifin and goalie Jacob Markstrom. Markstrom has expressed an interest in a trade to New Jersey and hinted at displeasure with the team’s top brass. There’s plenty of hot tea on Twitter if you want to investigate further, but it’s looking like Calgary wants to save some salary cap and make moves.

Key players

Nazem Kadri and Blake Coleman are proving to be good long-term investments for Calgary as they land in the top 3 in goals and points.

Time will tell whether or not goaltender Jacob Markstrom is traded. But we can see he’s putting up formidable numbers:

And finally, a look at those who excel at getting time in the sin bin.
