Kraken/Stars Games 3-7 still TBD due to venue conflicts

I don’t remember this happening before: we are about seven hours away from puck drop for game one of the Stanley Cup Western Conference Semifinals…and we still don’t know the series schedule beyond game two.

The issue appears to be scheduling around events at Climate Pledge Arena.

The calendar:

Game 1 is today, and game 2 is Thursday, May 4 in Dallas. Climate Pledge is booked Saturday for a Rauw Alejandro concert and a WNBA game on Tuesday, May 11, and the teams can’t play playoff games on consecutive days because that is a ridiculous idea.

Let’s look at this visually. The big red X means no game because it’s the day after a playoff game.

There seem to be two options:

  1. Play with two separate two-day breaks in this series (Thursday 5/4 to 5/7, then again from 5/7 to 5/10).
  2. Reschedule one of the events at Climate Pledge.

Adding to the mix is that Rauw Alejandro is the artist supposed to perform on Saturday. But he just pulled out of Tuesday’s concert with a groin injury. Are other concert cancellations imminent? And would that free up Saturday for Kraken game 3?

We aren’t sure what’s going to happen, but we will be monitoring the situation closely and will communicate the schedule as soon as we know.
