Kraken Select Lukas Dragicevic 57th Overall!

The feeling of disappointment was a bit palpable after the first round. The Kraken really could’ve used a defenseman to help shore up their back-end threat, right?

Well it turns out Ron agreed, because he decided he didn’t just want a Defenseman, he wanted a Defenseman who could score like crazy. Enter Lukas Dragicevic from the Tri-City Americans!

The 6’1 Richmond BC native made his bread this year by being an offense-first kind of defender; with absolutely incredible stickhandling and offensive awareness; good enough to have a 75 point season in the notoriously stingy WHL in 68 games; leading his entire team in points and assists!

Why is he here? Well, believe it or not…he’s actually kind of new to the position of defenseman, and as a result his game away from the puck is still developing. Once he has the puck, he absolutely knows how to get it out of danger and usually does so…it’s just doing that while having to cover dudes is still getting him is still a very raw skill for him.

Thankfully, he’s in a system now that prides itself on strong defense into transition play…so Lukas will get plenty of chances to improve himself.

Welcome Lukas to THE DEEP!
