Know Your Enemy:

Due to this being preseason, we’ll instead redirect you to the Pacific Division Preview. The most you need to know is that this is a year where Calgary would very much like to figure out whether or not they’re good enough to compete…or blow it up. No pressure, guys!

Game Preview:

Okay. So.

Gamethread’s going up at 5 because this is a doozy.

The premise is this: both the Flames and Kraken have sent each other a squad to play against on their home turf. First game in Calgary, then the second game at Climate Pledge an hour later. As a result, These games are effectively happening at the same time…meaning that following this pair of games will be an absolute nightmare.

Just know that the Kraken are taking the long game; Hakstol said at practice yesterday that Seattle will be using all of the preseason to evaluate their talent, and will only make cuts before they’re expected in Vegas for the season opener. This means that the Kraken’s prospects will need to make the most of their opportunity over the course of this next two weeks in order to get one of the very few open spots on the roster left.

Oh, and if you need to know how Calgary’s start in the preseason has been, they dropped a touchdown plus field goal on Vancouver last night. Expect fierce resistance; the Flames don’t appear to be screwing around.

Still, we’ll do our best to give you the best possible coverage of these two games, and see where preseason finds our Kraken after so much time away!
