And I thought last night was rough.

That was f!#king torture.

What Passes for Highlights

Game Notes

  • Your TOI leader for this greasy tumor of a game was Adam Larsson, who logged 24:23
  • I got nothing you haven’t already heard at this rate. This team’s offense fell apart losing Vince Dunn, but also on not focusing on finding speed, shooting, and youth in their depth. They’ve found little boosts here and there, but the unfortunate fact of the matter is that the Kraken’s ability to generate anything with the puck has been otherwise cored by chasing veteran experience and “defensive responsibility” over anything else. A million years of puck possession, and a million more of shots coming from the outside. Nothing done with it. Not enough playmakers to continue chances, not enough shooters to do anything with them. Even the objectively good thing this team had happen tonight was bled from them by this same. I knew this was possible, but having to experience is…painful. This sucks.
  • They were so close, I think is the worst part. They had control of this for so long. So, so…so long. And the minute they got a goal, it was like fate itself decided that pain is not just destined, but pre-ordained.
  • I’d point at any one line who needs to pick it up, but after 7 games of this I think the answer is all of them. The first line needs to justify their minutes, the Gourde line are cardio merchants, Turbo’s line does effectively nothing (and when they do something, it’s generally bad), and losing Wennberg has exposed some real cruel deficiencies elsewhere. Losing one defenseman should not be the difference between what, by all accounts, should’ve been a 1, 2, maybe even 3-0 drubbing of the Coyotes. Something is deeply broken here, and needs fixing badly.
  • But hey, at least they killed both of the penalties they took.
  • The Kraken are entering into a realm of possibility where the Arizona Coyotes sweep their season series. Good god.
  • 7 in a row. Something has to give here.
  • DRAFT UPDATE: Thanks to this boondoggle of a loss, the Kraken are now coming up on 8th overall. It would be hard to catch up with say…Montreal, but they’re entering the realm of Being Able To Catch Them. It’s pretty grim these days in King County.

So I’m guessing there wasn’t anything good, huh?

Well, Ryker Evans got his first goal. It was pretty sick, too.

Too bad it didn’t matter in the long run.

The NaturalStatTrick.com Charts, in case you wanna get mad.

All of those shots, all of that possession…and nearly none of it in the most dangerous part of the ice.

Jesus Christ.

Well, if you’re morbidly curious as to what new hellmouths the Kraken open next, Seattle comes home and faces the Montreal Canadiens on Monday night. Puck Drop is at 6pm PT.

We thank you humbly for reading, for putting up with this effort…and well:

Keep Calm, and Post Zoidberg When We Win.
