Kraken call up Ryker Evans, Devin Shore, assign Studenic and McCormick to Coachella

The Kraken are still moving bodies around to figure out what success will look like, and it appears Dave Hakstol and company will be taking their chances by calling up Devin Shore and Ryker Evans, and assigning Marian Studenic and Max McCormack to the Coachella Valley Firebirds.

Studenic only got a pair of games out of his stint on the big club, with no goals and both being at limited minutes. McCormick meanwhile, only played on Monday, and received less than 6 minutes of ice time. The upcoming players meanwhile have been enjoying their time with the Firebirds tremendously; Shore’s got 6 points in 9 games with the Firebirds, and Evans currently has 8 points in 18 games.

The Kraken need to figure out something, anything, to make the defense do what it’s supposed to do, and while Evans was on the shortlist to be on the main squad in training camp, he was one of the final cuts. He’s done pretty darn well otherwise in a season the Firebirds are struggling to find their footing in, and at this point, an injection of youth, a hungrier set of eyes, or hell…just something different, might just be the ticket towards getting these squids back up to snuff. Shore meanwhile will likely make for a decent sub in for McCormick.

Evans hasn’t yet been confirmed for the lineup, as he was in the spare pairing at practice, but I would be personally shocked if he doesn’t sub in tonight or Saturday.

Regardless, we at DJLR welcome Devin back, and we welcome Ryker to the big club! May you make this topsy-turvy season even slightly bearable.
