The Kraken’s playoff run is over, but that doesn’t mean it’s youngest and most two-way contract’d players can’t still chase playoff glory, as the Kraken announced that they’d be sending a trio of players, forwards Jesper Froden and Tye Kartye, as well as goaltender Chris Dreidger, to Coachella Valley for their push in the Calder Cup Playoffs:

Kartye managed to get into 10 NHL playoff games, and got 5 points. Froden and Driedger were not called upon for much, in comparison.

How are the Firebirds doing, anyway?

Quite well, thanks to a certain Ryker Evans!

The Calgary Wranglers were always going to be CV’s big hurdle to overcome regardless of how the rest of the playoffs turned out, and they’ve taken a 2-1 series lead on them through a herculean Game 3 effort, where the Firebirds came back from being down 2-0 and took the Wranglers all the way to Triple overtime, wherein Ryker Evans finally put the game away after nearly 5 hours of professional hockey. Joey Daccord also put up a 60 save night which is wild. Lot of Firebirds owe him a steak for that kind of performance.

Thanks to that Best of 5 setup, this could be the shot in the arm necessary to get Coachella Valley into the Western Conference Finals!

Go (Fire)Birds, and let’s hope Froden, Kartye, and Driedger can help them reach for the stars!
