Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times reports that Jordan Eberle’s quad muscle was sliced when Jaden Schwartz lost his balance stepping on a puck, cutting Eberle’s leg with his skate.

According to Kraken GM Ron Francis:

“They’re doing an MRI to see if it got the tendon, so I don’t know enough yet. It wasn’t gushing but it was a deep cut, so they’ve taken him to a hospital and they’re doing an MRI.”

As we were reminded by the recent Adam Johnson tragedy, hockey skates are no joke and can cause serious injury or death.

The Kraken have called up Shane Wright and Ryan Winterton from Coachella Valley. Wright, the 2022 4th overall draft pick, played 8 games with the Kraken last season before being sent down to…look, it was a mess last year through no fault of Wright or the Kraken.

Winterton, a 6’2″ 175lb forward, has been playing well in Coachella Valley and has good chemistry with Wright, as seen here with Winterton stealing the puck, then setting up Wright with a “royal road” pass for the goal:

Last season the Kraken were pretty lucky by dodging injuries. This season, we’ve already seen the Kraken lose Brandon Tanev and Andre Burakovsky to injury and now it looks like Eberle might be missing some time too.

In addition, Geoff Baker also reports that a second forward was “shaken up” but the Kraken did not disclose who. Oof.

The Kraken play the Avalanche in Denver tomorrow. It looks like the Avs fans won’t get their chance to boo Jordan Eberle tomorrow night after all.
