The Seattle Kraken announced two more signings on Tuesday — not to their roster, but to their broadcast team. Alison Lukan will be back for the Kraken’s sophomore campaign and Nick Olczyk will come aboard for his first year in Seattle.
Lukan was all over your Kraken media consumption last season, from written pieces for the team’s website to radio hits and even to the television broadcast. Prior to last season, she was mainly known as the data-driven storyteller of the Columbus Blue Jackets. This past year in Seattle was her first time in front of the camera, and she proved to be such a natural that she even filled in for J.T. Brown as the team’s color commentator alongside John Forslund for a March game against the Washington Capitals.
Nick Olczyk joins the Kraken after spending last year in the booth for the Chicago Blackhawks. It’s a regular Olczyk family reunion in Seattle, as Nick joins his father Eddie on the broadcast team while his uncle Ricky remains an assistant general manager.
Olczyk, at 25 years old, already has four years experience as a color commentator with the ECHL’s Indy Fuel, which he did prior to joining the Blackhawks last season. He’ll be developing content for the Kraken across television and radio and any other form of media you can think of.
