Trade Rumor: Jordan Eberle on the move?

The Alexander Wennberg trade may not be the only major trade the Kraken make this week.

It brings me no joy to tell you that Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli reports that the Kraken and Jordan Eberle were working on a two-year extension at $4.5 million, but could not come to terms, with the sticking point being that Eberle wanted a third year.

As a result, Seattle “will be moving Jordan Eberle” before Friday’s noon trade deadline.

Seravalli is the only person I’m seeing reporting this so far, but he’s not some yahoo making up stories for clicks. He’s the head of the Professional Hockey Writers Association and is a major NHL insider. He is the one who famously leaked the entire Kraken expansion draft on Twitter.

Eberle, an original expansion pick by the Kraken, makes $5.5 million and has 14 goals and 23 assists in 58 games this season with Seattle. He is two games away from playing his 1000th career game.
