Kraken sign Spokane native Kailer Yamamoto to One year, $1.5 million Contract!

The Kraken announced on rapidly deteriorating ego boost masquerading as a social media website Twitter dot com today that they have signed Kailer Yamamoto to a one year contract worth 1.5 Million against the Salary Cap!

Yamamoto is a true Washington state product; born in Spokane, played for the Spokane Chiefs, has played in the western conference since his drafting in 2017; all with the Edmonton Oilers until he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings…who then bought him out.

I’m gonna be real; neither of these teams should’ve done that. In spite of his diminutive frame, Yamamoto is a pain in the neck to deal with; extremely fast, very strong on the puck…and shockingly good at defense . He almost plays the exact opposite kind of game you’d expect from a player of 5’9.

Yamamoto played primarily in the Top 6 of the Oilers where I personally believe he was a bit miscast. With the Kraken’s top 6 all but mostly locked up (depending on if Tye Kartye makes the team out of camp), it’s very easy to see him thriving with guys like Brandon Tanev and/or Ollie Bjorkstrand. And of course, from the more human side…it’s just nice to have a local (ish) kid playing for the Kraken.

Welcome Kailer Yamamoto to THE DEEP!
