Game Notes
- Your TOI leader was Jamie Oleksiak, who logged 21:31 of ice time tonight.
- Seattle started out slow and gave up a lot of opportunities and at one point were getting outshot 14-4 early and gave up the first goal of the game. Daccord had to be spectacular to keep it just 1-0 and he was indeed.
- The Kraken’s identity from last year is back: depth scoring. 5 goals came from 5 different players and 11 different Kraken players had a point tonight. They just keep coming in waves and are overwhelming opponents.
- The Kraken’s defense had some real leaky lapses in there, and Joey Daccord stopped 800 breakaways tonight. I don’t remember the last time I watched hockey and felt so safe when the opposing team does have a breakaway. Feels like Daccord is stopping them all.
- The Kraken now have a 54% NHL win percentage, a key benchmark in Seattle sports.
Let’s Give A Hand To…
- Joey Daccord! He gave up two goals where he was hung out to dry and stopped a handful of other shots where he was hung out to dry, stopping 34/36 shots for a .944 save percentage on the night.
- Jaden Schwartz! He returned after missing the last 17 games and was rewarded with a goal, an assist, and the highest game score of the night for any player.
- Brandon Tanev! He was buzzing around all night and creating chaos and being so disruptive all night.
- The Tolvanen/Gourde/Bjorkstrand line! Look, when 11 different skaters get a point, there’s a lot of love to go around. This line controlled the shot quality when they were on the ice with a 58.9% expected goal share.
- Dave Hakstol! For keeping this team together and keeping them working hard during the losing streak which feels so long ago. Their efforts were eventually rewarded and Kraken are winning and they’re winning a lot.
