This team sometimes, dude. Trying to put the entire county in the hospital for heart issues.

But first, the Highlights!:

Game Notes

  • Your TOI leader tonight was Adam Larsson, who logged 22:56 tonight!
  • Transition was the name of the game tonight; The Jets are every bit as formidable as advertised, and controlled an outsized amount of the game’s shooting, but that vaunted defense of Winnipeg was badly exposed in transition; something that the Kraken used and abused to keep up in an honestly airtight game. It was an x-factor Seattle used perfectly even in their worst stretches of this game.
  • The other name to tonight’s game was special teams, because man the Kraken absolutely shot the lights out on the power play and the penalty kill! Getting a shorty and a power play tally! A 2-for-1 deal!
  • That said; given the Kraken are due to face this team if the playoffs begin and Seattle’s in the 2nd Wildcard spot…I am not ready for potentially 7 games of that. The Jets are a headache of a team to watch and they gave the Kraken fits for major portions of the contest.
  • I’m sure Joey Daccord will take the win given how the Jets were running the show; he finished with a .909 SV% and the third star; no doubt earning it over the course third period for the crazy stops he was required to make.
  • Really, the big thing the Kraken have to figure out is how to do this again on Thursday, because the Jets are coming to Seattle, and they are going to be looking for blood.
  • Playoff Update! It was a major win for the Kraken to get two in a row; four gigantic points that get them ahead of Calgary, but also caught Nashville and St. Louis on losses tonight, with Nashville only picking up a pity point. As of this writing, the Canucks and Kings are tied at 1, but if the Canucks win tonight, that’s one final major boon. The Kraken as of right now are merely 5 points out of the playoffs. Granted, there’s three very painful games ahead, but if they can win them…

Let’s Give A Hand To…

  • Jared McCann! What a night he had; three points, a short-handed goal, and the first star of the game. He had Winnipeg in hell for more than a couple of shifts, and we appreciate that more than anything.
  • Tomáš Tatar! His goal was awesome; a hell of a redirect from a head’s up play. The hand-eye coordination alone needed to make that happen is just incredible. You really get a reminder on goals like that just how good these players are at this level. VERY glad we get to see some of that in Deep Blue.
  • Andre Burakovsky! Burky made his return to the scoresheet for the first time since January; getting a tally for the first time in 19 games and boy did it come at the perfect time. Well. Done.
  • Justin Schultz! For getting this whole thing rolling in the first place. I know a lot of people want this guy out of here, but it’s good to see him playing well down the stretch.

Remember that thing I said about “They don’t ask how?”

Yeah, apply that to tonight’s game.

Boy I hope you liked that Roundel on Winnipeg’s jersey, because you’re gonna see it again on Friday at CPE. Personally, think their Away looks better, so imagine how happy I’ll be seeing them at 7pm PT.

We’ll see you there! And always remember

Keep Calm, and Post Zoidberg When We Win
