Just two more games. Just two more games. Just two more games. Just two-

The Highlights, if you can stand them

Game Notes

  • Your TOI leader for today’s game was Ryker Evans, who logged 22:18 today.
  • This offense has been well and truly broken. Not even starting when you turn the key. Even in a game that has fairly low-event right up until the third period started, the biggest killer they continue to face and will likely face until the season’s over is a special ineptitude on offense that isn’t getting fixed until they get some youth or some outside help this offseason. Mercifully, losing tonight got them in a good position to do something like that.
  • 0-for-3 on the power play, as an extension of what was said above.
  • Really the great tragedy of this game is that even if Joey Daccord finished with an .889 SV%, he was unquestionably the MVP of the night; making insane save after insane save with a defense seemingly disinterested in helping him beyond the very base level work. The team in front of him let him down big time.
  • Honestly, this was a pretty dull game. You could tell the Kraken had played 24 hours previously and that the Blues didn’t have much in the way of reason to play…and the Kraken sure as hell played down to that. It’s a pity they couldn’t find a win out of being so close for so long, but that’s how this entire season has been like; a fight to stay in it while ultimately failing.
  • Draft Position Update: The Kraken’s recent losses have them at 9th overall according to Tankathon, and moving up at this point requires the Flames and Sens to win out. Still, they’re also in a good position to move up thanks to the Lottery!

Did anything positive happen in this game?

  • Jared McCann got the only goal of the game, and is one goal shy of 30. Good for him.
  • Joey Daccord had an unreal save that kept the game within 1 for a good long time.
  • DRAFT STOCK, BABY

The NaturalStatTrick.com Charts

The worst part of any loss where the Kraken have good shot quality is the fact they can’t capitalize on it half the time.

The Kraken have a day off for travel, and then take on the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday for their penultimate game of the season.

We’ll see you there.

Keep Calm, this whole thing will be over soon.
