Game 7 Kraken @ Carolina RECAP: Anemic OT sinks Seattle in 3-2 loss

Frankly, we should be a little lucky they got the point.

If you can stand it, the Highlights:

Game Notes:

  • The Kraken’s TOI leader for this evening was Adam Larsson, who finished with 26:40 logged.
  • This was a game in which the Kraken started hot, and then sat on that particular hot start for nearly 40 minutes. They tried their damnedest! Oh how they tried their damnedest to frustrate the Canes into losing…but that’s a team that’s a well-oiled machine. Carolina took it to Seattle as hard as they possibly could and to the Kraken’s credit, they sure tried to make it hard on them.
  • The overtime strategy absolutely needs some kind of overhaul. The decision to have the puck forever but never do anything with it is not going to work.
  • If last game was a night in which there were so many penalties there was no way to count them all, the Kraken couldn’t buy an opportunity on the man-advantage, not that it would’ve helped much, but this could’ve seriously cleaned things up for the Kraken. It might’ve even stopped the bleeding. There were a couple of missed stick fouls that could’ve acted as a tourniquet but…well…that’s how it goes.
  • Martin Necas is a bad, bad, bad man. He was a terror for the Canes tonight.

Were there any positives?:

Well, a couple of them!

  • Joey Daccord would’ve been the first star of this game had they not broken entirely. He finished with a .933 SV% and was by far the best player in a white sweater tonight.
  • Oliver Bjorkstrand had a goal and an assist on Devin Shore’s goal.
  • Devin Shore made the most of his less-than 8 minutes of ice time and scored his first Kraken goal. Good on you, Dev!

The NaturalStatTrick.com charts:

Shield your eyes, the Kraken got murked.

Yeesh.

No rest for the weary, as the Kraken head south to face the Florida Panthers this Saturday, and that game starts at 3pm PT.
