Kraken re-sign Cale Fleury to a one-year deal

The brothers Fleury are no longer teammates, with Haydn signing in Tampa Bay this offseason — but the younger Fleury will stay in the Seattle Kraken system for at least the 2022-23 season. The team announced that Cale Fleury has re-signed with the Kraken on a one-year, two-way, $750k contract.

Fleury spent the majority of the 2021-22 season with the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League. Among his fellow defenders, he led the team in points with 33 in 58 games, a career best.

Fleury also appeared in nine games with the Kraken this year, bringing his career total to 50 NHL games. He did not record a point in his 130 minutes of ice time, but Seattle did outshoot their opponents while he was on the ice at even strength. Here’s a look at where both teams took their shots from with Fleury on the ice for the Kraken this season.

Fleury will battle it out with new additions Michal Kempný and Justin Schultz along with Will Borgen for presumably the last two spots on the game day roster — with Vince Dunn, Adam Larsson, Jamie Oleksiak, and Carson Soucy having solidified their positions last year.
