Jordan Eberle is the first All-Star in Kraken history!

The Seattle Kraken have their first ever All-Star!

The NHL’s Hockey Operations Department selected 40 players (10 from each division, at least one from each team) to the initial All-Star teams, and representing the Kraken will be Jordan Eberle. Eberle currently leads the team in points with 24 and has been a rock-solid part of Seattle’s top line all season.

The fans now get a chance to vote in four more players for this year’s showcase — one from each division. The teams nominated one player each for the fan vote, and Seattle’s nominee is captain Mark Giordano! Gio has played in three All-Star games, including last season when the Pacific Division won the tournament. You can vote to send Gio back to the game again here.

Both Eberle and Gio have been key players for the Kraken’s inaugural season, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that it feels like Jared McCann got snubbed. McCann is the team leader in shots and goals and has been the most consistent goal-scorer on the team. He hasn’t had a stretch longer than four games without putting one in the back of the net. It’s a tough crowd though, and Eberle and Giordano are both deserving in their own right.

The NHL All-Star Weekend will be held on February 4th & 5th. The skills competition will take place on Friday the 4th at 4:30pm Pacific and be broadcast on ESPN. The 3-on-3 round robin tournament between divisions taking place on Saturday the 5th at noon Pacific on ABC.

Is there anyone else you think should’ve gotten the nod over Eberle? Let us know in the comments!
