The Seattle Kraken made some great early-season memories last week, winning their first two games over Anaheim and Vegas at Climate Pledge Arena. Nothing preserves memories like snapshots, so here’s a bunch of keepsakes – mostly from our ace photog, Jenn Goldberg.
As always, the captions are my fault.
October 9: Kraken 3, Ducks 1
Kraken goalie Joey Daccord was dialed-in on opening night, stopping 35 of 36 Anaheim shots. @Jennthulhu_Photos“Mason Marchment, the Pacific Northwest Ballet called. They like what you’re bringing to the team.” @Jennthulhu_Photos“Look, Tye Kartye… up in the sky. It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a… puck!” @Jennthulhu_PhotosOverheard at the Kraken bench: “Hey, down in front!” “I can’t see the whiteboard.” “Shhhh. I’m trying to listen.” @Jennthulhu_PhotosAs Mason Marchment can attest, you never forget your first yeet. @Jennthulhu_Photos
October 11: Kraken 2, Golden Knights 1 (OT)
“Did you ever have the feeling you were being watched?” @Jennthulhu_PhotosAgainst Vegas, Joey Daccord remained razor-sharp; 26 saves on 27 shots. @Jennthulhu_PhotosVegas goalie Adin Hill, to the puck: “I only have eyes for you.” @Jennthulhu_PhotosCaption choices for referee T. J. Luxmore: ** “I’m telling you, the fish I caught was THIS big.” ** “What I really wanted to be was a baseball umpire.” ** “No, I am not Ryker Evans wearing a striped shirt.” @Jennthulhu_PhotosAfter Jared McCann (19) scores the overtime game-winner, Kraken teammates keep goalie Joey Daccord from leaping on McCann so hard they’d both have broken several ribs.
