Today for the first time, the public got to see “it” – the sweaters PWHL Seattle will wear when their inaugural season kicks off next month.

Knight and four of her teammates modeled the deep slate green-based home jerseys at a media event outside Climate Pledge Arena. The word “Seattle” is written diagonally in cream-colored letters outlined in river blue. The cream-colored road kit features “Seattle” in deep slate green, outlined in river blue.

Does this mean PWHL Seattle won’t have a nickname and logo this season? No! They just won’t be part of the jersey design this year.

Per a league press release, “Seattle and Vancouver will officially reveal team identities – including team names and logos – prior to the season beginning, which will be incorporated into on-ice uniforms for the 2026-27 season.”

The five players claim to be as much in the dark as their name-hungry fanbase. “We’d like to know, too!” said Knight, to laughter from her teammates. (They had known about the jersey design for the last month.)

Regardless, wearing actual sweaters gives substance to the reality of women’s pro hockey in Seattle. “The jerseys are perfect for our city, and we’re really proud to be able to wear them and have Seattle across our chest,” said PWHL Seattle 1st round draft pick Jenna Buglioni, a former national champion at Ohio State.

“Seeing it with your name and your number on the back just makes it a little bit of a ‘pinch me’ moment. I don’t think it’s sunk in yet. I skated yesterday with Carp and Hillary and Barnes and Bilka, and it was just like, ‘Oh, my gosh, I’m out here, this is real!'”

During what the players agreed has been a way-too-long off-season, they’ve been engaging in off-ice bonding activities. Several were at Lumen Field Monday for the Seahawks-Texans game, while closely following the Mariners ALCS Game 7 on their phones. “We’re anxious to be part of that (Seattle sports) conversation,” said Knight.

Their wait is almost over. PWHL Seattle training camp opens Nov. 7. Scrimmages with fellow expansionists PWHL Vancouver will take place north of the border on Nov. 15 and 16 (which are not open to the public).

Speaking of Vancouver, that’s where PWHL Seattle on Nov. 21 will play its first-ever regular season game. Buglioni will have her own rooting section at Pacific Coliseum. “I’m from there (nearby Port Moody, BC), so there’s been a lot of buzz from family and friends, and everyone that wants to come to that game.”

“Does ‘Buzz’ mean, ‘Can you get me tickets?'”

“Basically, yeah (smiling). My mom has bought a bunch. They’re waiting to see who can come. She just did her own thing because she was like, ‘I don’t want to stress you out about it. I’m gonna deal with it, and you just focus on playing.'” The Buglioni fan club might be identified by the giant cutout Jenna faces they’ll be waving. “Fans from Ohio State had made them for our senior day. They gave them to my parents at the end of the year to take home. So now we have some at our house.”
