Tye Kartye re-signed for 2 years, $1.25m AAV

Aint no party like a Kartye Party because the Party is extended for two extra years!

Jason and Ron had a look around, and decided that The Kartye Partye should keep going!

The Kraken announced today that they have re-signed RFA forward Tye Kartye to a 2 year, worth 1.25m AAV per year!

Kartye’s time in Seattle has been quite eventful so far; while he’s definitely found his niche as a 4th liner, he’s already made some lore for himself; such as scoring in his first ever NHL playoff game, but also being more than willing to throw down with just about anybody who dares look at him or his teammates funny, and has logged 33 points in 140 games; all with Deep Blue.

Analytically, Kartye has also acquitted himself as an archetypal damn solid 4th liner: maybe not the most offensively gifted, but he takes care of the puck in his own end; something you definitely want to keep around if you can pay for it in just the right amount.

He also apparently draws way more penalties than he takes, which feels backwards given the way he plays.

Frankly, just given who he’s become and how he’s played so far with the team, I think he’s more than earned the extension. I think he, Gaudreau, and possibly Nyman will be a fun little 4th line to watch this upcoming season.

Let’s all welcome Tye back to The Deep!
