One of the biggest names in sports broadcasting history has joined the newly formed Kraken Hockey Network.
Linda Cohn, ESPN SportsCenter anchor since 1992 and member of the National Sports Media Hall of Fame, will be hosting approximately 15 games for the Seattle Kraken broadcast, which has moved to free, over-the-air television starting this season.
No human on earth has hosted more SportsCenter broadcasts than Linda Cohn. Cohn, who Variety described as “the Sue Bird of ESPN“, was central to the TV sports explosion that came from SportsCenter’s popularity. It’s hard to overstate how much ESPN shaped the way we consume sports content.
You may have caught that “by way of Seattle.” Before joining ESPN, the former hockey goalie worked from 1989-1992 for KIRO TV in Seattle.
With Alison Lukan, Piper Shaw, John Forslund, Eddie Olczyk, and J.T. Brown, the Kraken already have the best broadcast in the game (national or local). Forslund and Olczyk also broadcast nationally for TNT. (Sadly, Nick Olczyk has departed for the snowier pastures of the Utah To Be Named Laters).
Now the Kraken have the biggest name of them all.
