Tuesday’s Kraken vs Coyotes game has been postponed

Tuesday night’s game between the Seattle Kraken and the Arizona Coyotes has been postponed.

Tickets to postponed games will be honored for the rescheduled date, whenever that is announced.

Carson Soucy was the latest Seattle player to be placed on the Covid protocol, joining fellow defenseman Jamie Oleksiak, who landed there just minutes before Saturday night’s game against Edmonton. Soucy played over 18 minutes in Saturday’s contest.

Update (3:59pm): Defenseman Adam Larsson has been added to Covid protocol with Soucy and Oleksiak.

On the bright side, all of Yanni Gourde, Riley Sheahan, and Colin Blackwell have been removed from the protocol and rejoined the team. Blackwell and Gourde were even spotted at a morning skate on Monday before practice was completely cancelled.

This comes at a time when the NHL, and sports in general, are being hit hard by a wave of coronavirus cases. The NHL has officially postponed 43 games as of this writing, while nearly a dozen teams have officially called off all games until after the holiday break. It seems to be trending in the direction of no more games for anyone this week.

Three of the next four Kraken games on the schedule are against Canadian opponents (Vancouver twice, Calgary once). Currently the NHL has cancelled all games involving cross-border travel until after the holiday break, but there’s a chance it extends beyond that. The soonest game against a non-Canadian opponent is when Seattle hosts the Flyers on December 29th.
