Sometimes a hockey photo is so beautifully composed, like the snap of the Seattle Kraken trio above, that it needs no embellishment.
Nor are explanations really needed for the prime shots below by our ace DJLR photog Jenn Goldberg. They come from the Kraken’s recently completed six game homestand. But I’ve written captions anyway.
“The Quick And The Tanev.” Rangers goalie Jonathan and Kraken forward Brandon. @Jennthulhu_PhotosThe Kraken may be overworking winger Jared McCann. (Not really… goalie Joey Daccord doused McCann with water before he was announced as 1st star for his OT winner against Vegas.) @Jennthulhu_PhotosAmong his many talents, defenseman Brandon Montour has perfected the “Hidden Puck Trick.” @Jennthulhu_PhotosSee?New arrival Daniel Sprong, looking stylish in warmups on Seattle’s “Hockey Fights Cancer” night. @Jennthulhu_PhotosAlso from warmups, replace Adam Larsson’s Kraken jersey and stick with a turtleneck and spyglass, and central casting would have one photogenic seafaring sailor (hunting mythical creatures in the deep?). @Jennthulhu_PhotosTanev (13) and defenseman Ryker Evans (41) shouldn’t be asked to share one hockey stick. @Jennthulhu_PhotosLike all good roommates, Will Borgen (3) and Matty Beniers (10) share the chores. Here, the defenseman separates the Blackhawk from the puck so the center can carry it up ice. @Jennthulhu_Photos“Reilly Smith, this is the Kraken. Give up the puck. We have you surrounded.” @Jennthulhu_PhotosGood goalies communicate with teammates. Here, Joey Daccord is saying, “Down in front! I can’t see.” @Jennthulhu_PhotosVisual evidence of why center Yanni Gourde (37) is such a pain in the Kraken to play against. @Jennthulhu_PhotosA private little war, 1 of 3: Seattle defenseman Ryker Evans (41) vs. New York’s Vincent Trocheck (16). @Jennthulhu_PhotosA private little war, 2 of 3: How many checks could Trocheck be checked if Trocheck could be checked? @Jennthulhu_PhotosA private little war, 3 of 3: Answer: As many checks as Ryker Evans cares to deliver. @Jennthulhu_PhotosWe’ve all been there, waiting for the one guy who always arrives late to the post-goal hug. How annoying! @Jennthulhu_PhotosThis concludes our latest DJLR photo essay. We hope you enjoyed it as much as Joey Daccord likes celebrating a Kraken win. @Jennthulhu_Photos
