Shane Wright making the final roster is no surprise. He was an animal in the preseason and through training camp after a very successful AHL campaign last season in Coachella Valley.
Ryan Winterton and John Hayden were sent down to Coachella Valley. And NHL roster can have up to 23 players.
The Kraken only have the salary cap room for 21 players: 12 forwards, 7 defensemen, and 2 goalies.
An NHL team dresses: 12 forwards, 6 defensemen, and 2 goalies.
This means if there is an injury to a forward, they do not have anyone they can immediately activate to play the position and would have to simply play the game with 11 forwards.
Currently the Kraken are capped out, with just $4,286 in salary cap space. That’s enough to get a pretty nice, but not top-of-the-line DSLR camera. Something is probably going to have to give and Seattle will need to make a move.
But that sounds like a problem for after tomorrow.
That’s (very close to) Kraken hockey, baby!
