The PWHL, hockey’s most recent pro women’s league, has had a helluvan offseason; massive expansion, major shakeups of who plays where, and a real feeling of excitement after the contentment of “this is nice to not be constantly sniping at each other over nonsense” settled in through their first couple of seasons. And now they’re putting it all into motion with the 2026-27 season.
The Seattle Torrent, who maybe didn’t have the best opening season (who in Seattle ever does), released their schedule for the upcoming campaign, which will feature 30 games, with 15 home games at Climate Pledge Arena!
This will also be the first year in PWHL history where there are enough teams to warrant splitting the teams into conferences, with Seattle being shunted to the Western Conference thanks to the absolute glut of teams joining in expansion, particularly in our fair time zone.
Conference Alignment
| PWHL WESTERN CONFERENCE | PWHL EASTERN CONFERENCE |
|---|---|
| PWHL Detroit | Boston Fleet |
| PWHL Las Vegas | PWHL Hamilton |
| Minnesota Frost | Montréal Victoire |
| PWHL San Jose | New York Sirens |
| Seattle Torrent | Ottawa Charge |
| Vancouver Goldeneyes | Toronto Sceptres |
Teams with “PWHL” in the name, as tradition for the league now, will not play with a nickname or logo added to their jerseys even if one is decided during the season. This means Seattle will likely be adding their logo to their gear fairly soon.

Takeover Touring
The Torrent will be part of four Takeover Tour venues this year, albeit with their locations not quite revealed yet. These are special events played in non-market arenas, both to gauge fan interest in a possible expansion team and to help teams prove to their local markets that they can be draws to potentially upgrade on their accomodations. That’s no concern of the Torrent; women’s sports does well in Seattle and CPA is relatively bleeding edge, but for some teams they need to figure out a way into slightly larger arenas and that can be a bit of a fight.
Also, it’s fun to play games in weird places!
Given that the team has yet to announce new sweaters for the 2026-27 season with their logo on them, I would imagine the team would like to get that on track for the upcoming year.
When the Torrent release that info, as well as where their Takeovers will be, we’ll let you know! We’ll also start previewing their new division!
