Ron Francis really waited a good long time to get something set for the Kraken’s #1 defender, but once again the Kraken avoid an arbitration hearing as they announced they have got Dunn under contract prior to arbitration on a 4-year deal worth 7.35 Million AAV!
Dunn distinguished himself last season with an extremely strong season; finishing with a career high in points, assists, and goals and in general being a major part of the Kraken’s extremely strong transition game over last season, as well as having a pretty good first round!
Dunn’s primary contribution to his pairing is being the mover and shaker; as his offensive impact dwarfs an otherwise pretty solid defensive impact, which the Kraken utilized to full effect over the last season.
The term is also pretty darn good; it allows him to make a good chunk of money for his play (after all, he did earn it), and allow for any potential setbacks to be mitigated by not being tied down for half a decade! After all, he might soon be called to be the de-facto leader and teacher on defense; Seattle’s blueline doesn’t have a contract on it that’s longer than his. Might be called upon to show Ryker Evans (among others) the ropes!
Welcome Vinnie BACK to Seattle!
