Kraken vs. Jets game postponed

The NHL and the Seattle Kraken announced that the team’s Wednesday night game against the Winnipeg Jets has been postponed due to an incoming blizzard in the Winnipeg area. The game will now be played on May 1st, two days after the original end to the regular season.

The rescheduled game will be played at 11am Pacific time that Sunday, so enjoy a brunch Kraken game to close out this inaugural season.

The storm in Winnipeg is expected to bring nearly two feet of snow and wind gusts over 40 mph. It’s severe enough that schools in Winnipeg might close for the first time since 1997. The Kraken, in all likelihood, would have been able to get into Winnipeg to play the game, but there’s no telling when they would have been able to fly out. The league cited the Jets’ Friday matchup against the Panthers in Florida as part of the reason for this postponement. It seems they’d rather push back the non-playoff teams in favor of ensuring teams like the Panthers get all 82 games in before the playoffs kick off.

And people thought the Kraken wouldn’t get to play May hockey.
