The Seattle Kraken announced on Monday morning the return of defender Gustav Olofsson to their NHL roster.
Olofsson will fill in for Jamie Oleksiak, who is currently serving a 3-game suspension for an illegal check to the head in last week’s game against the Washington Capitals, and Justin Schultz, who left Sunday’s contest early after an ugly hit from Florida’s Ryan Lomberg.
Olofsson has one regular season game under his belt with the Kraken so far, and he played quite well in his 10 minutes of ice time alongside Will Borgen on the back end. The Kraken outshot the Winnipeg Jets 9-1 with Olofsson on the ice, and outscored the Jets 1-0.
The 6’3” Swedish defender has 11 points in 60 career NHL games, all of them assists. We could see Olofsson and Cale Fleury both suiting up this week should Schultz need more recovery time, with one of them once again sitting once Oleksiak returns to the lineup this coming Sunday against the Jets.
Welcome back to Seattle, Gustav!
