Kraken re-sign forward Karson Kuhlman to 1-year, $825k deal

The Kraken announced on Monday afternoon that they re-signed forward Karson Kuhlman to a one-year, $825,000 contract.

Kuhlman played 25 games with Seattle after being claimed off of waivers from the Boston Bruins in January. He played significantly more minutes with the Kraken than he did in Boston (13:10 per night vs 10:14 per night with the Bruins) and grew into a great two-way winger alongside Yanni Gourde down the stretch. In more than 150 minutes with Kuhlman and Gourde together at 5-on-5, the Kraken outscored their opponents 6-5 and enjoyed a 52.4% expected goals share, per Natural Stat Trick. That’s a significant improvement over the team average 47.6% with neither player on the ice.

Kuhlman was one of seven pending restricted free agents (RFAs) in the Kraken system right now. Qualifying offers were due to RFAs earlier Monday afternoon, so expect more contract news on its way any time.
