Know Your Enemy:

The Kings, like the Kraken, stumbled out of the gate in somewhat dramatic fashion. They lost their season opener to the Vegas Golden Knights thanks to a Mark Stone goal that came with less than 30 seconds left in regulation. At least the Kraken got one standings point in their opener, am I right?

LA comes into this one essentially healthy, with the exception of the fan that got hit in the face with a puck during pregame warmups and broke his nose.

Game Preview:

The Kraken are going to need to pepper the Kings with shots just like they did in Anaheim in order to win this one, because Jonathan Quick still has enough gas to look like Jonathan Quick circa 2015. He made 47 saves in the opener and still got the loss.

Last year, Seattle went 1-3 against the Kings, but they were close losses — two of them were one-goal games until LA potted an empty netter, the third Seattle lost 4-2. The win for the Kraken was a resounding 6-1 smashing in what was at the time called Staples Center — though Cal Peterson was in net for LA rather than Quick.

One area the Kraken could really capitalize on tonight is the power play — it looked phenomenal against the Ducks, leading to three of the Kraken’s four goals. The Kings did not have a great penalty killing unit last year, finishing 22nd in penalty kill percentage. Drawing some more penalties in this one should be a recipe for success.
