Know Your Enemy

The Red Wings are in the middle of a rebuild and sit in 12th place in the Eastern Conference with a 28-24-8 record. They had a recent stretch of winning 7 out of 8 games fueled mostly by special teams, but their 5-on-5 play has betrayed them. They’ve lost three in a row and look to be out of the playoff picture.

It seems like Detroit is done wheeling (pardon the pun) and dealing with no more major moves to come, but this trading deadline has been pretty unhinged and teams are doing some weird things. Detroit did just trade one of their better defensemen, Filip Hronek, to the Canucks on Wednesday.

The key players to watch are C Dylan Larkin (with a fresh contract) and D Moritz Seider.

The goal song:

The Red Wings have a new goal song this year, titled “Let’s Go Red Wings” written by Cinderella drummer Fred Coury. It’s a very forgettable, generic song.

Cinderella is a Philadelphia-based band. A shame it’s not local but nothing could be done about this choice, as no musical acts have ever come out of Detroit.

Game Preview

This is a great spot for the Kraken to pick up some points against a team that is not very good and who just sent away one of their better defenders. These two teams played on February 18 with the Kraken winning 4-2 with Phillip Grubauer standing on his head in the win.

Seattle is in a good position for the playoffs. With Nashville throwing in the towel, they just have to hold off Calgary and they’re in the postseason. Moneypuck has them at about 92% to make the playoffs.

Two points against a weak team would do some nice work in padding that lead.
