Report: Mark Giordano has been traded to Toronto

UPDATE

Seattle receives two 2nd-round draft picks and a 3rd-round draft pick in exchange for Mark Giordano and Colin Blackwell.

The Leafs avoided parting with a 1st rounder or any prospects, and Giordano gets to go play for a Stanley Cup in his hometown.

UPDATE

Kevin Weeks is reporting that Colin Blackwell is going along with Giordano to Toronto. Still no word on the compensation for Seattle.

After weeks of speculation and waiting, it appears the Mark Giordano era in Seattle is finally coming to a close. Darren Dreger of TSN reported on Sunday afternoon that the Kraken had finally struck a deal with the Maple Leafs to send the captain to Toronto.

Girodano, at 38 years old, was second on the team in time on ice per game, notching over 21 minutes per night. He’s also second among Kraken defenders with 23 points and 2 short handed goals.

Let’s hope the long-time vet can finally get his Stanley Cup ring.

Thanks for everything Gio!
