The Kraken have already made some cuts! Mostly to guys who were probably on their way to junior anyway, who would probably get more out of attending training camp with their teams rather than fight Firebirds and Kraken mainstays for space on tonight’s roster.
The Kraken have come to Calgary, where they may face a much more fierce foe in the Flames. The Flames have been struggling to really define themselves in the wake of the Matthew Tkachuk trade on the main roster, but their prospect pool has consistently stayed pretty good throughout the last few years. This leaves them in an interesting place where plenty of young players, particularly blue liners, could find themselves on the shortlist for a call up for tonight’s contest. The Kraken will need to be ready for a fierce team hungering to be noticed.
Will it be enough to beat a Kraken youth that seems dynamic, fun, and already full of buy-in on Coach Lambert’s system? We find out in a scant few hours.
