Philipp Grubauer, Alex True initial selections for Olympic rosters

The Grand Olympic “first three” of any Olympic roster participating in the hockey tournament have begun to matriculate out (don’t ask why, it’s just how the rules are), and wouldn't you know it, a pair of Kraken have already been chosen to represent their countries in the XXIV Olympic Winter Games!

First up…dearest Grubert, Philipp Grubauer, pride of Rosenheim and Kraken Goalie, was chosen to represent Germany alongside Leon Draisaitl of the Oilers and Moritz Sieder of the Red Wings. A good foundation if ever there was one for a team, one could imagine other young guns like JJ Peterka and Tim Stützle could put Die Eismannschaft in contention for being one of the youngest and most dynamic teams at this Olympiad. Not a bad start for last Olympics' Cinderella story!

Meanwhile, the newest team (not named China) to qualify for the tournament is Denmark, who while having ice hockey for decades, hadn't been able to make the tournament…until this year. And to celebrate that, they're taking Copenhagen's own Alex True with them to wear the Lion! He'll be working hard with the Checkers in Charlotte this year to make it worth it!

Of course, no Olympic roster ever stays set, so here's hoping both stay healthy. and play well enough to keep their appointment.

Congrats to Alex and Philipp on this huge honor! Lets have a good season to capitalize on it!
