Not Many Goals For Kraken On Homestand, But Plenty Of Great Shots

@Jennthulhu_Photos

Just because the Seattle Kraken’s most recent homestand didn’t turn out so great (1-2-1) doesn’t mean there weren’t some memorable shots taken by DJLR ace photog Jenn Goldberg. We’ve included a few from our buddies at Imagn Images. As always, the captions are my fault.

It ain’t easy fighting for the puck behind the opponent’s net. Especially, as the Kraken’s Shane Wright discovers, when the other team’s goalie, Florida’s Sergei Bobrovsky, is throwing shoulder checks. @Jennthulhu_Photos
Did we mention it ain’t easy fighting for the puck behind the opponent’s net? Ask Shane if you don’t believe me. @Jennthulhu_Photos
We stay behind the net, to see that Kraken center Matty Beniers (10) has mesmerized the Panthers.

Isn’t that right, Aaron Ekblad?

“Do you sleep with your goalie stick under your pillow at night, too?” “I used to, but one night when I rolled over I almost gave myself an appendectomy.” Boston’s Jeremy Swayman and Seattle’s Joey Daccord. @Jennthulhu_Photos
Speaking of goalies, the Kraken’s Philipp Grubauer wore this sharp-looking mask to recognize Indigenous Peoples Night at CPA (Don’t tell the NHL). @Jennthulhu_Photos
Here’s the equally sharp reverse view of the mask. Grubauer looked fantastic from all angles, making 33 saves in a 5-1 victory over the Bruins. @Jennthulhu_Photos
Here’s one of Grubauer’s saves. Also shown, now-former Kraken defenseman Will Borgen (3), dealt to the Rangers on Dec. 18. Steven Bisig-Imagn Images
Goal celly of the homestand belongs to Kraken defenseman Vince Dunn.

Watch out, or Vince may jump right out of your monitor or phone and into your lap.

Against Tampa Bay, all eyes on that small black disc of vulcanized rubber. Brandons in the background: Tanev (13) and Montour (62). Kraken in the foreground: Matty Beniers (10), Jamie Oleksiak (24) and goalie Philipp Grubauer. Outnumbered: Lightning Jake Guentzel (59). Steven Bisig-Imagn Images
When Montour scores against the Bolts, to borrow a phrase from a Jim Carrey movie, he’s “S-S-S-Smokin’!”

Shhh! Against Ottawa’s Claude Giroux, Kraken defenseman Vince Dunn attempts an innovative sneak attack.
@Jennthulhu_Photos
It’s an optical illusion. Kraken forward Tye Kartye doesn’t really have a blade on both ends of his stick.
@Jennthulhu_Photos
One more reason to love new Kraken d-man Brandon Montour – as if you needed any more reasons. Down by multiple goals to the Senators, Seattle pulls its goalie for an extra attacker. Ottawa’s Drake Batherson, expecting to collect an empty-netter, has his shot saved by Montour.
