Oh Mush, we hardly knew ye.
The Kraken, according to multiple reports, have traded Forward Mason Marchment to the Columbus Blue Jackets for a 2026 Fourth Round pick, as well as a 2027 Second Round pick. The Kraken do not retain any salary in this deal.

Marchment was one of Seattle’s acquisitions in the 2026 Offseason; traded for a 3rd and 4th round pick of 2026, who so far has managed to put together 13 points in 29 games played; four of which were goals. Marchment brought both a physical as well as a slight annoying edge to his game that did make him quite entertaining, but as December began to turn, it became clear that maybe not everything was as positive as it sounded.

Of course, like quite a few Kraken lately, and indeed like many players in Lane Lambert’s system, Marchment’s on-ice impact was quite low this season, and while it has been fun to watch him stir s#!t up, the reality is that the Kraken desperately need to pick a lane at this point in their rapidly deteriorating season, and given his size and physicality he fetches them two important things: some return on the investment of getting him, as well as $4.5 million in cap space (Bringing the total they have now to a hair over 6 Million). It does also open a spot for a Coachella Valley Firebird to potentially join the team while they consider what their longer term options are with the team’s roster.
I will miss him personally, but I mostly get it. They need to start prioritizing the future and making some hard decisions about this roster, and while I do like the style of play Mason Marchment brings, they ultimately need to take any advantage they can get right now.
Thanks for all the memories, Mush. We’ll never forget you. Have fun in Columbus.
