Well.
At least they didn’t draw it out.
You only really need the first 30 seconds of this highlight reel
Game Notes
- Your TOI leader was Adam Larsson, who finished with 21:55.
- If there’s anything the Wild do, it’s just play hockey at a reasonable, even pace that you can either deal with, or get absolutely trampled when that even pace seems a little more aggressive than you yourself are ready for. To their credit, the Kraken actually tried keeping pace with the Wild through the first period…with the added caveat of their defensive effort being just a shambling wreck. The first five minutes told you, in no uncertain terms, that this was not an effort that deserved a win. They were discombobulated, they were not supporting one another with good positioning away from the puck, and even when they got their good chances, they failed to follow up on them. Even when luck came into the equation, it completely backfired on the Kraken and ended up in their net. Just a total fiasco of a game.
- I…really don’t have much else to say. They showed their entire hole for the first five minutes of the game, and the Wild got their fastest 3-goal lead in their franchise’s history. The offense, which had been previously able to keep up over the last week or so, could not find an answer against Filip Gustavsson. It’s hardly the first time the Kraken have been shutout, but it never felt quite so destined as it did tonight.
- Philipp Grubauer was in net tonight, and he was asked to put up with one of the most disgraceful performances in front of him I’ve seen in awhile. I’m not gonna say he helped, but I don’t know what he could’ve done differently when the Kraken’s defensive structure looked like it did. Walking away from this one with an .889 SV% almost feels like a miracle.
- Chandler Stephenson got hurt tonight and would not finish the game. Just adding fuel to an already aggravating fire. We hope that he isn’t out long-term and recovers fully.

agonized sigh
The Kraken mercifully do not grace our screens for a couple of days; taking the time to go wander Alberta for a bit, starting on Saturday against the Oilers. That game drops the puck at 7pm PT.
Let’s all forget this game and hope for a better result on the weekend.
Keep Calm, and Post Zoidberg when we win.
