Know Your Enemy
- Calgary finished with an identical amount of points last year to the Kraken, with a 38-39-5 record good for 81 points and a 5th in Division placement.
- As this is the very first preseason game, the Flames won’t be trotting out any projected rosters yet. This is their Training Camp roster, which is split into three squads.
Game Preview
Welcome to preseason! Hockey is so back!
Anyway enjoy these rookies. Wait no come bac-
For Seattle and Calgary, there’s plenty to pay attention to this preseason: both teams disappointed majorly in the offense department, and are trying to make changes to try and make it better. The Deep made otherwise small changes to the roster and are expecting key prospects to make the necessary jump to the NHL, as well as a number of coaching changes. The Flames basically cleared house last year; lost a lot of talent by the time they finished the season, and are now looking to either rehab the talent they do have, or make a mass graduation of the Calgary Wranglers…oh yeah, and probably get a top 5 pick in the process. Both sides have high hopes for their young talent, and are looking to see who is NHL-ready. Seattle’s rookie camp was strong; with a bunch of impressive performances by Nathan Villaneuve, Jacob Melanson, and Jagger Firkus, but they will be facing Calgary’s rookie squad; who by my count has at least two or three major spots in the lineup up for grabs. Dustin Wolf will likely be the goalie, but everything else?
Ripe for the taking.
While I sincerely doubt the Kraken OR the Flames are gonna be making their roster decisions based on one game (unless somebody like say, Berkly Catton decides it’s time to have a 5 point night), this will be a great first impression not only for the new additions via free agency, but also the young boys acquired from the draft. It should be very interesting!
It might be preseason, but there’s a ton for these kids to play for! LETS GO KRAKEN!
