The Kraken have been sending signals for days now about their new jersey; the unofficial “first” third jersey in team history, as the Reverse Retros were considered distinct kits away from traditional thirds, and the Winter Classic sweater is…well, it’s a Winter Classic sweater.
So yes! The Kraken have finally created their first third jersey!
And we go…deep for it. So deep it shows signs of bioluminsecence.
The Kraken have been intermittently teasing the sweater since August; doing cinematic trailers with different players as they go. All the while a Morse Code message of “September 4th” rang out, inching ever closer until today, and what have they brought up?
The Kraken’s new digs are primarily Black with the Seafoam and Red taking center stage for the contrast in light. Notable of course is that all the seafoam blue is glow-in-the-dark, highlighting the Kraken “S”‘s outline, and the elbow striping in darkness (though admittedly some of the photos dont quite do that justice).

The Kraken will wear these sweaters 11 times throughout the year, starting on November 1st against the New York Rangers.
While black jerseys are kind of a meme among jersey efficianados for being kind of a low effort attempt, I think the Kraken did a wonderful job here: the immediate contrast will make for incredible on-ice pre-show, as well as some really happy faces on Christmas. It also critically isn’t the most garish possible version of their colors, which has been a real problem for these glow in the dark Sweaters around the league. Its tasteful, and I appreciate that tastefulness.
But that is just my opinion, what do you think?
