Note: This is the first of four videos with Seattle Kraken TV voice John Forslund.
Seattle Kraken general manager Ron Francis stepped in front of reporters on July 1 to say he’d done something for the first time in his eight years as an NHL executive – signed a player to a seven-year contract. Two players in fact; free agent defenseman Brandon Montour ($50 million) and center Chandler Stephenson ($43.75 million).
Seven weeks later, Francis offered a third seven-year deal, $50 million to lock up restricted free agent center Matty Beniers.
The trio of signings – the term and dollars – have created various levels of consternation in hockey media, and more than a little upset within Kraken Nation. For distressed fans who have climbed out on a ledge, and those who wish to metaphorically push Francis off that ledge, consider the wise and calming words of Kraken TV play-by-play man John Forslund. His takes on Beniers, Montour and Stephenson form this Kraken Reaction.
