Seattle claims Austin Czarnik off waivers!

Elliotte Friedman of SportsNet announced today that the Kraken have picked up a new guys on waivers: Austin Czarnik, previously of the Islanders, and Dennis Cholowski was placed on waivers in return, previously of the Red Wings…and Seattle Kraken.

Czarnik has been a fourth-liner journeyman for much of his career to this point, having played in Boston, Calgary, Long Island, and now Seattle. He’s mostly been playing on the Taxi Squad for the Islanders. He has 5 points in 11 games played. From the under-the-hood analytics, honestly I think this is a solid choice that could highly benefit the team, as Czarnik historically has been a very responsible forward in his own end, and that’s really all you want from a 4th liner anyway. It certainly could help with all of those late game situations where the Kraken are trying not to make things worse.

We welcome Austin Czarnik to the deep!
