Alright, you almost had it! Now next time…
Don’t…let them play for OT. That clearly has some drawbacks for you.
Here is the Highlights
Game Notes
- Your TOI Leader was Vince Dunn, who logged 24:17 tonight.
- This was the low event game of low event games; both New Jersey and Seattle took it reaaaaally slow the entire time, which is funny given how much effort both sides were putting out towards the goal of having a super low event game, after which the Kraken were effectively suckered into letting some of the highest impact offensive players on the Devils basically put them in a torture chamber for almost every shift of 3-on-3. I can’t say I fault either side for keeping it close for so long, but I really have to ask if urgency could be a factor in games against teams like the Devils who have a clear skill advantage. That’s just asking for trouble.
- Both power plays and both penalty kills got to flex their stuff tonight, and given that it was an OT game I think we can just call it a draw on that for now.
- Philipp Grubauer was in the unenviable position of every shot against causing his SV% on the night to wildly fluctuate given where the game was, and so finished his night with an .885 SV%. None of the goals against were especially tough, but just about all of them were more the fault of his defense failing him badly. He played alright otherwise, especially given how much of the net-front was surrendered to New Jersey tonight. GUYS. HELP YOUR GOALIE.
- I’m a little annoyed the Devils only label the jersey as opposed to everything else. Surely they could’ve shelled out for stickers that say “HELMET”, “GLOVE (RIGHT)”, “SKATE” and “JOCKSTRAP”, no? Commit to the bit, NJ.
- Bottle it up, take the point, get ready for tomorrow. Boston awaits. Can’t get too annoyed about the result now.
Was there anything good about this game?
Absolutely!
- Jared McCann had a goal and an assist! McCann got his 10th goal of the year and his 3rd in 5 games!
- Vince Dunn assisted on both goals for the Kraken!
- Adam Larsson scored his 4th goal of the season!
- Berkly Catton has been slowly becoming one of the leading penalty drawers on the team in recent weeks, and McCann’s power play tally came directly off his hard work of throwing the Devils off their game. Good stuff!
